For months now, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation has been in the process of moving its historic windmill to this new site where it will be much more visible to the public.

Now it has finally happened and I am looking forward to soon seeing it in full operation again.

As I bid farewell to Massachusetts, my plane passed over Fort Independence there in the foreground and the islands of Boston Harbor beyond.

As I was setting out to hike yet another trail, this time near Northampton, Massachusetts, I happened across this memorial.

The rest of the Hemlock Trail led me back along the shore of the Upper Hemlock Lake . . .

past some lovely mountain laurel . . .

and the remnants of a quintessentially New England-style rock fence.
