Nimbostratus?
Not sure what kind of cloud formation this is. My best guess, based upon this excerpt from Wikipedia, is that it is an example of nimbostratus clouds:
"A nimbostratus cloud is a multilevel, amorphous, nearly uniform, and often dark-grey cloud that usually produces continuous rain, snow, or sleet, but no lightning or thunder.Although it is usually a low-based cloud, it actually forms most commonly in the middle level of the troposphere and then spreads vertically into the low and high levels. Nimbostratus usually produces precipitation over a wide area."

Weather Station
I could enjoy, I think, having a weather station like the one at York River State Park shown above but I doubt my homeowners association would approve. :-)
Partly cloudy sky over Jamestown High School.

Ships, Old and New
Festival Park, where the masts of the replicas of the Susan Constant, the Godspeed, and the Discovery are just barely visible.
A more modern ship, the Century Bright, shown above, is here seen heading toward the Chesapeake Bay after leaving the port in Hopewell, Virginia.

Pocahontas
A couple of the other "passengers" taking the Jamestown Scotland Ferry across the James River last night.
Clouds forming on the horizon hold out the promise, at least, of cooler temperatures to come.

Profiles
I finally took leave of the Schooner Virginia after these last two profile shots. Quite appropriately, I just finished reading David Grann's excellent new book entitled The Wager last night--fuels the imagination while also offering a stark reminder of what life aboard these ships was really like during the age of sail.
